Abstract

With the growing worlwide awareness of halal in the global spectrum, the matter could not be left behind without good effort to systematically disseminate it to the mind of the halal conscious consumers. Halal not only becomes a norm to many food manufacturers among locals but also in the regional context for many decades already. In line with this development, the acedamia seems to have the best capacity to support the understanding of halal through right medium. The proper way in informing people with comprehensive halal knowledge is through the education channel i.e halal syllabus in a form of acedamic course and introduced in the institution of higher learning. As such, University Malaysia Pahang has taken maiden step towards providing this course codeman Introduction to Halal Studies UHE3202 asn an elective subject to all diploma and degree students. It is indiscriminately open to all students without pre-requisite status. It has been approved by the Senate and officially offered since semester 2 2014-15, attended by 35 students in the first intake. The cources continues its journey until now and shows growong interest from many students including non-muslim student in previous few semesters.
