Abstract
Malaysia is a nation whose economic base is undergoing
transformation. Since independence, its economy has heavily relied on
primary products such as natural rubber, timber, palm-oil and tin; and
this has placed the nation at the mercy of the fluctuation of the world
market. Malaysia tries to end this reliance on the major commodities by
diversifying the economy in the agriculture sector and promoting
industrialization in selected areas, particularly manufacturing. The rapid
industrialization process as a result of the government's commitment
towards an advanced economy confronts the consequence of shortages
of skilled manpower. There are three
main parts discussed in this book, firstly the industrialization process,
secondly the management of skills training, and finally the system of
skills training.
