Abstract
This book is menat to provide fundamental knowledge on understanding of membrane filtration in surface water treatment. In particular this book discusses the membrane property, classification, orientation, role of membrane module design, possible factors and mechanisms that affect the membrane efficiency in treating surface water. The role of natural organic matter(NOM) and inorganic particulate as potential membrane foulants are highlighted. Furthermore the understandings of solution chemistry, importance of pretreatment, cleaning methodology and controlling factor of hydrodynamic conditions are also discussed
