You must have the belief of your very contributions to the research field. If you are not
then why must others. Gather all the evidences to prove you’re much input to the field.
Very often students tend to focus their contributions from one or two aspects and losing
contributions from many other perspectives. For instance, economy aspect is always in
their minds to a large extent until miss the vital contributions to the environment.

Maturity
How mature can you discuss/relate your work in alleviating demanding research issues.
It reflects the degree of your understanding the real meaning of your findings, whether
you have the capacity to present a sensible judgements. Demonstrate such maturity
throughout the viva voce session. Remember that the viva voce is a getaway for you to
become an independent researcher.

Knowledge
How well have you equipped yourself with the required knowledge of your field? To
what extent you can express about your research in reference to the global scenario. Are
you well prepared with the theoretical and practical understanding of your subject? It is
well expected that during your viva voce, you have acquired the required knowledge to
deliberate your work with the experts. In fact, you have continuously seek the
knowledge during your research years. Believe that one can gain energy through the
knowledge. During research years you have acquired knowledge, hence demonstrate it
during the session.

Different from others
How your work distinct from others - the uniqueness, the innovative part. Remember
that the more you become similar to others the less you become innovative. Explore new
aspects in your research area. A determined and constant research investigation will
ease the finding of new aspects in the research. It is crucial too for publishing the work.

ANTICIPATING POSSIBLE QUESTIONS
As a researchers and a master of the field, one can anticipate possible questions without much
effort. Questions that usually being raised during viva voce is not secretive, as the list of
common questions is available at large.

What are the main implications of your research for the rest of the field?
•
How are your findings going to impact the field and the industries?
•
How are your findings going to inspire others to research further in the field?
•
Why did you do this research?
•
What are the motivating factors behind your research?
•
Have a clear mind on the problem that you have tackled. Is it worth tackling?
•
What is the relevance of your contributions to other researchers and to the industry?
Clear on the method that have you chosen out of many other established methods. Decide
whether you need a statistical tool to prove your findings.
•
What are the main difference(s) between yours and with those in your references?
•
How many times have you repeated your data collection?
•
Why your results are not in line with the literatures?
