enhancement elements to the research field’ and contain ‘the work worth to be disseminated’.

5.3

ABILITY TO ENGAGE WITH SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY

One must demonstrate the ability to involve with scientific community, orally or in written.

This can be achieved through numerous ways, by attending presentation, exhibition, forum,

seminar, workshop and other related events. Written engagement can be achieved via

publications, in the form of journal, report, book, patent and conference paper. Such

engagements make the researchers more resourceful and prove their ability to communicate

with others.

Oral engagement gives an effective face to face platform in disseminating or rather

discussing their work. It serves as a yardstick to measure the depth and breadth of one’s

research scope. In addition, such involvements become a benchmark to position oneself in a

wider spectrum of the research field. It too answers whether or not the research is in line with

the current state.

On the other hand, written works become a well documented proof of the research

accomplishment. Written documents serve as a reference for many other researchers, as such

contributing one’s very own findings to the global research community. On top of it, such

documents have a far-reaching ability to circulate the knowledge around the world.

ACTIVITIES

1. Differentiate between ‘mere reporting’ and ‘discussing’ of your data/findings.

2. Prove your ability, orally and/or in written, in engaging with related scientific community.
